Welcome to the A. C. Moore Herbarium!

David Rembert


David H. Rembert, Jr. is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus within USC's Department of Biological Sciences, a part of the College of Science and Mathematics, for he which he has served as Associate Dean. His research specialties include both plant embryology and history of botany. As a historian, he is particularly interested in the activities of plant explorers of the Southeast, and in particular, South Carolina. Thomas Walter and André Michaux are among his specialties. A native South Carolinian, Dr. Rembert has researched the economic history of agricultural crops in South Carolina, and is an authority on the development of indigo as a colonial industry.
